Exploring a New World
I believe that our overall goal should be to create life-long learners. We want to show students that they can have a love for reading, no matter what it is that they choose to read. As they develop this love for reading they will learn to explore the possibilities that a book can offer.
Literacy across the board.
From the launch of the Common Core Learning Standards, our conversations about literacy in all content areas has been ongoing. The CCLS have mandated that all teachers incorporate literacy in their instruction. As we dove into these standards, we found that some were easier implemented than others. Moving forward, we need to continue to plan and teach lessons which embed these required standards along with any content standards. However, this year let's just focus on creating thinkers by buiding literacy opportunities across the board. Here's how:
